Cala d'Hort, Ibiza, Balearics, Spain
A great location with a few attractive shops, delightful restaurants and a great friendly atmosphere. The beach at Cala Dâ??Hort is an expanse of sand and pebbles with crystal clear water. The views from the beach to the islands of Es Vedra and Vedranell are spectacular. Es Vedra has been the source of local legends and many reports of UFO sightings throughout the years. The island was featured in the film â??South Pacificâ? as the mysterious island of â??Bali Haiâ?. Its other claim to fame it appeared on the cover of the Mike Oldfield album â??Tubular Bells IIâ? in fact the musician lived opposite the island until the 1990â??s. Es Vedra is inhabited only by wild goats and a colony of endangered species of Eleanorâ??s falcon which can often been seen swooping around the island.
There are three good fish restaurants at Cala Dâ??Hort ideal for a long relaxing lunch taking in the scenary and atmospheric views.
